3 Must-Haves for the Perfect Landing Page

tips for the perfect landing page

Landing pages play an increasingly important part in lead generation and conversion. Still, there are companies that have not yet grasped their importance and power. Using your home page or your product page as a landing page is a big mistake – these pages contain much too information and are too distracting to fulfill their purpose: move the customers forward in their buyer journey.

Still, having a dedicated landing page does not mean the conversions will start pouring in. Typically, the conversion rate of a good landing page is between 5% and 15%. If yours falls below this, you might be missing one of these three essential elements:

  1. A Perfect Landing Page Needs a Relevant Headline

Your landing page has to be perfectly integrated into your sales funnel. Let’s say that the ad copy that brings people to the page says something along these lines: “Free demo for the ultimate marketing automation solution”, the headline of the page should offer the same information: “Free demo for the marketing automation solution that will increase your ROI”.

In other words, people who click on an ad, need to see the same thing when they reach your perfect landing page. Don’t try to promote another product or get creative and change too many words – you don’t want to confuse people. If you want to add more information in a visible place, you can always add a subtitle.

  1. A Perfect Landing Page Needs Clear CTAs

Again, this is not the time to confuse people, so keep everything short and to the point: “Subscribe now”, “Get your free demo now”, “Buy now” are all valid CTAs. If the user is required to fill in a form, add the CTA after the form, but make sure it’s visible and in appropriate colors.

Remember: the CTA should be for one single product. If you want to drive more engagement, you can add social sharing buttons and, only if you must, a link to another product. If you do so, make sure it’s far less visible than your CTAs.

  1. A Perfect landing Page Needs a Description of the Product or Service

Emphasize on the value of the offer and make sure you answer all the relevant questions. From your landing page, people need to find out everything there is to know about your product’s features, its price and its terms of use.

It is advisable to support your copy with photos and videos, as well as with testimonials from other clients.
